Time-based routing

Time-based call routing for different parts of the day.

Change greetings, destinations, and fallbacks according to the day and time a call arrives.

A clock dividing one incoming call into a daytime office-phone route and an evening mobile route.
In plain terms

What is time-based call routing?

Time-based call routing uses a configured schedule to choose which call flow runs when a call arrives. Different time periods can use their own greeting, phone menu, person, ring group, voicemail, or fallback. A repair company might ring dispatch during the day and the on-call phone in the evening, so each call follows the path prepared for that time.

Business hours define open and closed periods; time-based routing applies the call flow assigned to each period.

What you can do

Match call handling to real team coverage

  1. 01

    Forward during active hours

Connect callers while the responsible people are available.

  2. 02

    Use voicemail after hours

Take a message when a live transfer would not be useful.

  3. 03

    Set the right expectation

Tell closed-hours callers when the team is unavailable and what they can do next.

How it works

How the schedule selects a route

  1. 01

    The call arrives

The business number starts the configured call flow.

  2. 02

    The schedule checks the time

The system determines whether the workspace is in its open or closed period.

  3. 03

    The matching path runs

The relevant greeting, menu, transfer, or fallback takes over.

Route around real coverage

Set the schedule around when calls can be answered

01

The doors are open but phones are not staffed

Keep the closed path active until the team can actually take live calls.

02

The live window ends

Move callers to a clear message, voicemail, or optional Voxi.ai flow instead of continuing to ring an unavailable team.

03

Working hours change

Update the schedule and matching announcement together so callers hear instructions that fit the route now in use.
